About us & our beginnings
The idea began with students from the Faculty of Medicine who sought to reduce the effects of the war and the divisions that occurred after World War II, and it was through the principle of student exchange. Indeed, the first meeting was held that witnessed the establishment of the “International Federation of Medical Students - IFMSA” in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 1951.
The first members of this new organization were England, Austria, the Federal Republic of Germany, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Denmark. Over the years, the organization expanded significantly until it reached 1.3 million members of medical students in 130 countries, and here we turn to the International Federation of Medical Students - Egypt "IFMSA - Egypt"
"IFMSA - Egypt", a full member of the Federation since 1972, branches out to all governorates of Egypt through local associations and is represented in Aswan Governorate and University by "Aswan Medical Student Association - AMSA"
Thus, we have made it clear that we are a member of one of the organizations that is one of the largest and oldest organizations that are managed by students. "AMSA-Aswan" is a non-profit organization that contributes to raising the level of awareness and knowledge of the community on many very important health and social issues through awareness campaigns on Social Media and on the ground with the community in many villages and centers in Aswan Governorate.
Our vision and our role in society
In our society, we see many problems and crises that are related to health ignorance, so our goal is not only to educate people about the information, but we seek to apply it in reality through our various campaigns. Our goal is to live in an integrated healthy society in order to live a better life.
Our Committees
"AMSA - Aswan" includes many committees, each of which has specific topics and a specific job description. Through these committees, "AMSA - Aswan" can complete all its projects and campaigns with high efficiency and complete professionalism. These committees are divided into:

○ Standing Committee of Professional Exchange "SCOPE"
○ Standing Committee of Public Health "SCOPH"
○ Standing Committee of Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights Including HIV & AIDS "SCORA"
○ Standing Committee of Research Exchange "SCORE"
○ Standing Committee of Human Rights & Peace "SCORP"
● 5 Supporting Divisions:
○ Projects Support Division "PSDD"
○ Publications and New Technologies Support Division "PnSD"
○ Fundraising Support Division "FSD"
○ Research Support Division "RSD"

"AMSA - Aswan" is divided into 3 levels in terms of career progression:
● Executive Board (EB):

● Team Of Officials (TO)
○ Officers of Standing Committees & Support Divisions
● Members of the Association:
○ They are the main pillar on which we rely and through which we can carry out all our projects and campaigns efficiently and professionally.
All members of "AMSA - Aswan" are selected according to special criteria through personal interviews, where each member of the association represents one of the basic pillars through which we can progress, develop and succeed. Therefore, they must be carefully chosen to be the best pillar for us, and the association becomes the best supporter of society.
